Spring Fun in Birmingham:
Best Outdoor Activities for Families
Spring is here and I for one am so ready for it. Easter, baseball, park days, all the outdoor activities, and hallelujah for the sun being out until dinner time am I right? Birmingham Mom Collective has put together a wonderful list of ALL THINGS SPRINGS, so check that out and plan accordingly to enjoy this season and spend some time outdoors with the entire family.
Aside from the Birmingham Barons, the Savannah Bananas are also hosting a 2 game series in town. One game to be played at Regions Field and the other will take place at Rickwood Field. Sign up today to get your spot in the ticket lottery before tickets go on sale to the public.
Zoo days this time of year are my absolute favorite and even if you don’t want to brave the zoo or the crazy spring weather, the Alabama Safari park isn’t a long drive. We haven’t been to the one in Montgomery but we did venture to the one in Tupelo a couple of years ago and it was a quick day trip full of family fun, great memories, and amazing food. Be sure to check out Neon Pig and Funky Cones for food and dessert. Splash pads are a fun day time kiddo friendly activity as well. There are many to choose from around the area. Gardendale, Hoover, Cullman, and there’s even one at the zoo.
And this is my spring outdoor must do…Tulip Farms. There are 2 that I know of here American Village in Montevallo and Hubert Family Farms in New Market which is a good day trip about an hour and a half from Birmingham. Both of these places offer the most picturesque backdrops for the season perfect for family pictures.
Want to spend a fun day making memories without breaking the bank? Take a trip to the Botanical Gardens or Aldridge Gardens and go from a stroll or pack a picnic. Both offer free admission and the only thing better than Mama’s PB&J is Mama’s PB&J in a beautiful garden right?
Also, one of my most favorite things in the world to do is to dine Vecchia. Eating dinner outside is so relaxing to me and something about everyone just being chill and informal makes for the best conversations and creating fun and lasting memories with my favorite people. The kiddos often grab sidewalk chalk or bubbles and just play when they’re through so the adults can just sit and talk and watch them just enjoy life to the fullest. There are a tone of outdoor dining options listed HERE as well!!
