A beautiful maternity session with Ashley Chambers was so fun to photograph.

I love Ashley and her family.

She has the two cutest boys and is welcoming another little boy.

She requested an outdoor session and it turned out to be absolutely breathtaking!!!

I told you!  The sunlight was perfect. 

And Ashley looked amazing.

This field provided a gorgeous backdrop.

I love finding this perfect spots.

Her husband, Michael joined Ashley.

Mr. Rhett & Mr. Reaid are so handsome.

Winter Crafts with Amy P

With the New Year approaching, one of my children’s favorite past time is Winter Crafts.  There is no better way to pass the time than to sit down and enjoy some crafts with your children.  Often times, school & daycares are closed due to the winter.  Crafts are a great way to pass the days at home.  We are going to share a few of our favorite crafts.

 – Coffee filter snowflakes – these are the easiest snowflakes to make.  Because they are made from coffee filters, your child can cut them easier because they are not very thick.  This is a great way to decorate too!

 

 – Cotton ball snowmen – Have your child glue cotton balls onto construction paper. I draw an outline of a snowman.  And then let my children glue on cotton balls. We like to add construction paper cutouts to decorate him.

 – Birdseed ornaments – This has to be one of my children’s favorite.  You can mix flour, water, corn, syrup & gelatin for a smooth paste that you mix with bird seed.  You then can press this into any shape or use a cookie cutters.  Insert a straw in the ornaments for a hole.  Allow them to dry 3-4 hours and then remove the straw.  The ornaments will need to harden overnight.  Now you can hang these in trees or maybe on your deck.  Your children will love watching the many birds. One great tip is to create a craft storage box.  I have a large Rubbermaid box that hold construction paper, markers, paint, googly eyes, pipe cleaners, glitter, etc.  This box of creativity is fun for any age and can definitely come in handy when you need to pass the time with children.

And be sure to have lots of hot chocolate and cookies on hand to keep your little ones toasty & warm on any cold day.

Christmas Photo Tips

Christmas Photos Tips

A few do’s and do not’s to make your Christmas photos and Christmas cards a pain-free experience for you and your children.

Let’s face it, we have all been there…

You just want a nice family photo or a photo of your kids for the Holidays and it does not go as planned.

We have compiled a few tips to help make this event less stressful:

Do’s

  • Do Relax!  Do not stress!  I promise, it will be a great photo that your family will love to see.
  • Do plan an easy event (whether it is just you and your camera or a scheduled photo session with your family photographer.) Make the event easy, maybe a quick mini-session is best for you and your family.
  • Do coordinate your outfits.  Notice I said coordinate – do not match the outfits.  Mix it up for a colorful palette.
  • Do step outside – I can’t think of a better backdrop than outdoors.  Right now, the colors outsides are gorgeous.
  • For a special Christmas card, you can always have a Santa session with your kids.
  • Do incorporate your pets!   
  • And lastly, just have fun!  Play around with props for a fun family photo!

Don’ts

  • Don’t plan a photo session on train tracks. This is illegal and extremely dangerous.
  • Do not schedule too many outfit changes especially with small children.  While this is cute, this will only stress you out more.
  • We recommend not wrapping up your children and pets in Christmas lights. The glass bulbs could break or be harmful if placed in their mouths.  And lights can contain lead. 
  • Don’t feel it has to be a “Christmas-themed” photo.  You can really use any picture.
  • Do not think it has to be a posed photo.  Some of the best photos are candid shots.
  • And one of the biggest don’t in my opinion…  Do not go with a cheap printing service.  You worked really hard planning out your Christmas card photo(s) and a poor printing service will take any great photo and make the quality unsatisfactory.  One printing service I recommend is mpix.
These are just a few of our tips to help you and your family have a fun & memorable Christmas photo.

Richardson Family Session

A fun outdoor session with the Richardson Family.

We had so much taking their session outside – these photos were taken at Jemison Park located in Mountain Brook.

The weather was absolutely gorgeous!

The Richardson’s have been wonderful clients of mine for quite some time.

I have enjoyed watching these girls grow!
